Please know that I will never send out emails containing attachments or links, nor will I ask for password information. Be cautious out there, folks. People are sneaky!

AT&T has raised their wholesale monthly pricing on certain broadband products by $10, so I will be increasing the posted rate on the 12-24 Mbps plan to $75/month. This will NOT affect the price of existing services. Let's hope AT&T deploys their residential fiber service in Humboldt before everybody has to crowd into the Optimum network!

Our cable internet package has been upgraded to 300 Mbps. At present, we're charging the same $90/month. Hopefully we can keep this pricing indefinitely.

Please be careful responding to emails claiming to be from Renaissance Internet. I will always include my name, and will never ask for your password or payment info. Lots of scammers out there folks. Be safe!

Renaissance now offers 200 Mbps internet service using the Optimum infrastructure!

Email services fully restored.

Email Service Interruption: Our Renaissance mail service is unresponsive as of 6:30pm. Our host, Everyone.net, is aware of the issue and is working to restore service. I'll be monitoring the situation and will keep the outgoing voicemail message updated with any new information. They have no estimated time of repair, but they hope to have service resotored in the next few hours. Thanks for your patience!

SCAM ALERT: A scam email has been making the rounds, designed to trick users into giving up their email passwords. This is an old phishing trick, but it still gets people. Do not click links in emails, and please just contact support@reninet.com if you have questions or concerns. We do not close accounts for having too much email.

Email trouble ~ the Renaissance mail service is behaving erratically. I've spoken with our host, Everyone.net, and they are aware of the issue. It is a top priority for them, as it is effecting all of their services. There's no current estimated time of repair, but I'm told things should be back to normal soon. I've also left an update message on the Renaissance voicemail. Sorry for the trouble, folks.

EMAIL SERVICE RESTORED: Both webmail and email client access seems to be working properly now. Please contact me at 707-826-9782 or support@reninet.com if you're still experiencing difficulties. Thanks very much for your patience this morning!

EMAIL OUTAGE UPDATE: Definite signs of progress! Email client apps can now download and send reninet.com email. Webmail is working intermittently still, but I imagine this will smooth out as the enormous backlog of messages and client logins settles down. Hopefully within the hour things will be back to normal. Thanks for your patience!

EMAIL OUTAGE UPDATE: I've spoken with Everyone.net's tech department regarding the email outage that began at 8am. They have no estimated time of repair yet, but they are working to restore service. It is a global outage affecting all their domains (including large ones such as Earthlink.net), so they are motivated. Meanwhile, if you need to reach me by email, I will be checking support@reninetmail.com (note this is different from reninet.com).

EMAIL OUTAGE: Our mail server, as well as the websites of our hosting company (Everyone.net and Hostopia.com) have been unreachable since 8am. Since this is affecting all of their domains, I'm sure it is a top priority. Sorry for the trouble folks. I'm attempting to reach their tech department for an estimated time of repair.

Price change: Unfortunately, my rate for wholesale internet access was changed very abruptly yesterday. This will not affect existing customers unless they request a change to their service such as a location change or speed upgrade. All new orders will be priced at $65/month for the 12-24Mbps service. Lower pricing for lower speeds is no longer available. Where faster speeds are available outside of Humboldt, I can now offer excellent rates. We can only hope that high speed fiber service will come to Humboldt County soon.

You will continue to see ongoing improvements/changes to the website as my rusty HTML/CSS skills improve. I do believe I'm homing in on a satisfactory design that works on mobile devices as well as big screens, but we're not quite there yet. Please bear with me, and feel free to send suggestions to support@reninet.com.

I've received notice that the Legacy DSL network is finally being retired by AT&T as of midnight, June 30th. I've done my best to individually contact the Renaissance customers who will be affected to let them know their options. Please contact me if you haven't gotten my messages and you believe you have the older style DSL service.

EMAIL WARNING: A scam email has been making the rounds, claiming to be from Renaissance Internet and asking for user/password information. This is NOT legitimate, and I will not ask you for this information. I've arranged to have it blocked by the spam filters for now, but it's an ongoing battle of algorithms. If you did respond, please let me know so that we can reset your password.

I finally got around to redesigning the Renaissance website. Hopefully nobody finds the change after 22 years too disconcerting. And yes, the site is secure once more!

The new email server is running properly now, and many customers are reporting that their old messages have been restored or are starting to appear. If you log in to our webmail (https://webmail.everyone.net) you can check on the restore process. If you see at least some of your old folders and emails from before March 6, this means the process has begun for your mailbox and all will be restored in time. I'm assured that "Nobody will lose any mail... ." If you still see no folders or mail in your webmail, you can boost the priority of your mail restore by logging in to webmail and sending a blank email with no subject to resync-me@everyone.net. You should see the process beginning within hours. Here are a few tips regarding the new webmail: By default, the inbox contents are displayed in order of message ID rather than Date. This can be confusing. Look for the word "ID" in the upper corner of the frame displaying your list of emails. Click here to get a pulldown menu from which you can select DATE as the ordering criterion. Also, if you are looking for old Sent Items, these will not be merged with the new Sent folder. Instead, look below in the Folders section. Your old Sent Items folder as well as other custom folders will gradually appear in this section as the restore progresses. You can of course move any emails to any folder using the webmail interface once they arrive. I'd like to thank all my customers for their amazing patience through this process. This was not a well executed mail migration, and you could have taken out your justifiable fears and stress on me. Nobody did, and I am incredibly grateful for this. Please contact me with any questions at 707-826-9782, or by email at support@reninet.com.

Our email host, Everyone.net, has been migrating all domains and mailboxes over to a new platform. Once it is complete, our webmail, spam filtering, and virus filtering should be greatly improved. Things are not going smoothly however. First, our webmail is no longer personalized with our logo, but shows up as a generic Webmail page. Instead of your username, you must log in with your reninet.com email address. Note: arcatanet.com and humboldtmail.com will not work. A new wrinkle as of yesterday afternoon: you must type in webmail.everyone.net to get to the proper login portal. The address mail.reninet.com brings up a version of the portal that will not successfully log you in. I've adjusted the links on our website accordingly. The worst glitch during this process is that the domains arcatanet.com and humboldtmail.com are not currently configured properly. All mailboxes still accept reninet.com mail. The migration team at Everyone.net assures me that all of these errors will be sorted out by March 4, and I certainly hope that they're right. Please know that I did not request this migration to the service, nor do I have any control over how it is carried out. I can only monitor their progress, create trouble tickets on their site when I find a glitch, and give daily reports to the on-call Reseller manager. This I will continue to do, but I definitely get the sense that their team is overwhelmed by complaints from the thousands of customers they've disturbed. This will cause extended delays in fixing these issues. I can only apologize for the trouble and answer any questions you have from my support address of support@reninet.com or via our main number. Thank you as always for being Renaissance customers.

Renaissance Internet will be moving to a new location on November 1st, 2016. Our new address will be 1309 11th Street in Arcata.

Yesterday the Renaissance mail servers suffered a hardware failure. The malfunctioning hardware has been replaced and Renaissance mail service has been restored. Renaissance customers can now access new messages, but older messages will be inaccessible until the backup data has been completely restored. This will take a few more hours due to the massive size of the data spools. We expect that full access to all mail will be restored by later this afternoon. We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience.

Renaissance Internet has moved to Downtown Arcata. We are now located at 1033 G St, across the street from Arcata Theatre.
December 4, 2009
Renaissance has migrated to a new mail platform featuring 1Gb storage, increased attachment size (25mb), improved webmail (browse to mail.reninet.com), and improved spam/virus filtering.
If you have any trouble checking your mail, make sure your email software is set to use the following settings:
Incoming mail: pop.reninet.com
Outgoing mail: smtp.reninet.com
Account name: your full reninet.com email address (e.g., bobsmith@reninet.com instead of bobsmith)
Enable authentication for your outgoing mail server. Use the same login info as for incoming mail.
If you have trouble locating these settings, please email support@reninet.com and let us know which email program you're using. We'll send you detailed instructions for your software. Use our webmail if necessary.
